Two International mediators and experts in conflict resolution from Canada and Australia, Suzanne Sherkin and Alison Haly, say that the peacebuilding skills training they provided to people in Malawi is now beginning to bear fruit.
Sherkin and Haly made these remarks after receiving reports from groups they trained in peacebuilding, highlighting how they are working within their communities to promote peace and stability.

Suzanne Sherkin, who is the Co-founder of the African Harmony Collective said this is what they had hoped for, that Malawi would have many mediators who can help bring peace to their respective communities.
They have urged Malawians to continue promoting peace and to train others in mediation skills so that the country can benefit more from peacebuilding initiatives.
The two also noted that during this school holiday period, students from various schools appear to be living peacefully and both the students and their teachers are sharing peacebuilding skills with others.
“We would like to thank Malawians who took part in the peacebuilding skills training because it shows positive change in their communities,”they said.
Commenting on the matter, one of the trainees, Emma Kambalame, said that she is now able to mediate when two parties or families are in conflict over certain issues.
Kambalame added that she has also trained others in peacebuilding skills so that they can work together in bringing peace to their community.
Currently, Suzanne Sherkin and Alison Haly have left Malawi and returned to their home countries of Canada and Australia respectively.
